Sick

Brody is sick... again. This is the sixth time since Thanksgiving that he's had this same cough and runny nose. I've taken him to the doctor twice- the first time he just had bronchitis, the second time the doctor diagnosed him with mono. Today I convinced the doctor to get a chest x-ray, and what do you know- the little guy has pneumonia. The doctor gave him a huge shot of antibiotics in his bum (to which Brody said, "Ouch! My wump!")We spent the afternoon running around town looking for a pharmacy that had  the correct dosage of medication and a nebulizer. No luck on the meds until tomorrow morning, but we did find a nebulizer!

All Together Now: "Awwwww!"

This is my older sister, Sarah and my unborn niece or nephew. She's 19 weeks today, almost halfway there!

She's served 8 years as an officer in the A*rmy (including a tour in Kuwait for "Operation: Iraqi Freedom") and now she's trying to get out. She's done her time, and honorably. The A*rmy is screwing around with her release date, and she and my brother in law, Bob, have been living in different states since last fall. They haven't been able to truly share the experience of "The Builder Baby" and it's sad for them.

So I ask you dear readers, give a pregnant, hormonal soldier some love and encouragement, and keep your fingers crossed that she, Bob, and their Builder Baby will be together as a family soon!

The Witching Hour(s)

What is it with the hours of 4-6 p.m.? These two hours are complete and utter misery at our house. Brody morphs into the demon spawn of Satan, and I'm at a complete loss as to what I should do with him.

By 5:45 p.m., Brody and I are both on edge, waiting for the knock at the door which signals that Daddy's home (or it's the four horsemen of the Apocalypse coming for me. Which, I have to say, by 6:05 p.m., are just as welcome.)

It's 4:13 p.m. Two hours to go.

What do you do to survive The Witching Hour(s)?

Monkey Madness

Over the weekend we moved Brody into a twin size bed. He was so excited- he loved "helping" Brent with the tools and he even helped carry the crib pieces out of his room! He's done surprisingly well- he hasn't fallen out yet, and for the most part, he stays in bed at night. Nap time is a different story. I can live with that though.

We also went to PetSmart and picked out two new tiger-striped fish to replace PISH! who died last week. I don't know why we replaced PISH!- Brody wasn't the least bit interested in him. We thought these new, colorful, faster fish would entertain him, but he couldn't care less.

Brody's been pretty good about pooping in the potty. He does it 3-4 times a week. When he goes, I make a huge deal out of it- he gets to flush the potty, and then we do a little song and dance. After we're done dancing, he gets fruit snacks.

Well, last week when PISH! died, he saw me drop him in the toilet, and he insisted on flushing. Then we had to do the potty song and dance, and celebrate with fruit snacks. Evidently Brody doesn't care what we flush, as long as we can sing and dance.

He Who Wears Mangy Dog To Amuse Grandson

(We decided to honor my Dad's Native American heritage with a new name.)

We had a fun (but too short!) visit with my dad yesterday afternoon. He is in town for an FAA conference, and flew in a few hours early so he could spend the day with us. I'm not sure wearing a stinky dog and watching Handy Manny for 3 hours was what he had in mind, but that's what Brody wanted to do!

Brody was so sad this morning when he woke up and realized Papa was gone!

We finally had to take the side off of Brody's crib for his own safety. He was climbing in and out, and was just begging for an ER visit.

Unfortunately, he likes to come out and ask you to watch him put himself back in bed.

So, we had to use bungee cords to keep his door shut.

You say child abuse, I say tomato.

Isn't that cute- still trying to honk her boobs after all these years. If that's not love, I don't know what is.

We gave Brody a buzz cut the other night, hoping he would look younger. Less toddler-like. Imagine our surprise when we realized how much older he looks!

He's so funny, he goes around all day rubbing his head, saying, "puzzy" (fuzzy.)
