Happy New Years- Toddler Style

Bedtime for Brody: 7:15 p.m.

Bedtime for Kate and Brent: 7:45 p.m.

We're all sick, what a fun way to spend New Years Eve. Oh well, truth be told, I've never seen what the big deal is anyway. I'd much rather get a full night's sleep! (My friend Jackie can vouch for me- she was with me when I slept through Y2K!)

2 Year Update

Height: 37 inches (90th percentile)

Weight: 32 lbs (80th percentile)

Head circumference: 54 cm (99th percentile)

Brody actually lost 3 pounds since Thanksgiving, since he's been sick off and on. Otherwise, he'd be in the 85th- 90th percentile. His head is still huge as ever.

Good news: he had a couple of shots today, and didn't cry at all! After the first shot, he said, "Owww!" and that was it! When the nurse went for shot #2, he grabbed her wrist and said, "NO!" It was pretty cute!

Bad news: his pediatrician is concerned about Brody's lack of coherent talking. Both Brent and I needed speech therapy when we were little (neither of us could say "r"), so his doctor decided to start him earlier. His first appointment isn't until February though.

Packages Galore!

We received not one, not two, not three, but four Christmas packages today! Brody was so excited. The box from my parents is actually bigger than him! He had a good time trying to find all the presents amongst the 2 million packing peanuts. I caught this picture of him actually falling in the box!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Brody!

Dear Brody,

On Wednesday you turn two. How is that possible? Wasn't it just yesterday that we were celebrating your first birthday?!

You are such a fun little guy. Your daddy and I are amazed by how much you've grown, how quickly you learn new things, and how much you change every day.

I know these first two years I haven't been the mom you deserve. I was doing the best I possibly could at the time. I've made a lot of mistakes along the way, and it's only the beginning- I'm sure I'll make plenty more in the years to come. I hope when you're old enough to understand, you'll know that there was never a time that you and daddy weren't the most important things in my life. I have never stopped loving either of you, even for a moment.

You are our miracle, our dream come true. We love you more than anything.

Born Free...

Brody has mastered the art of climbing out of his crib. He did it twice in a 15-minute period this afternoon, when he should have been napping.

I guess it's time for the "big boy" bed. I was hoping we'd be able to keep him in the crib until spring, since I want to refinish both his bed and dresser. I guess not though! Luckily we (Brent and I) found some bedding we agree on, so I guess I'll need to get it ordered! It'll look really cute in his room I think. His walls are light tan, and his dresser and bed will be restained a medium pine color.

Here's a picture of Brody in the penguin sweater that my aunt Pam knitted for him. It is SO CUTE, and it fits him perfectly!

He's a little crusty looking because we had to wake him up from his nap to get ready for church. Fun times!

What a bunch of crap, part II

How on earth is it possible that in Washington, the freaking "Evergreen State", a Christmas tree costs three times as much as one in the desert that is Utah?

I'm beginning to see the appeal of artificial trees.
